SpaceScan is kicking off this weekend with Finnish sleaze metal and Brit-style indierock with a Swedish touch. The first is courtesy of the 1980s inspired and brand new Universal signing Reckless Love, the latter of quintet Killerchaps who claim to sound like bad weather on a perfectly planned vacation. It’s Finnish! It’s old school! It’s metal! It’s big and dumb! And very charming. It’s easy to be all snooty about 80s metal, and granted; the decade spawned some of the most awful albums known to mankind. But it also gave us some of the best – and most fun. Luckily Finnish foursome Reckless Love are influenced by some of the best and with the slogan “big hard rock just for the fun of it!” they don’t try to be something they’re not. The sleaze metallers recently inked a deal with Universal and are to debut early next year, but single ‘One More Time’ is online now and have already made quite a stir in their native country. (TB)

Killerchaps (SE)
This Swedish quintet claim to “sound like bad weather on a perfectly planned vacation”, and although one shouldn’t think so there seem to be a market for that as Killerchaps now have two albums under their belts (latest ‘Lingua Franca’ from last year). They have recently released new single ‘No One Knows Your Name’, a sweet “Cure meets Smiths” gem, and Bowie-ballad B-side ‘Beggars And Villains’ which you can get for free by CLICKING HERE!
