Q&A: We Are The Storm – If anyone ask, it’s pop
Categories: Features • Rock • Sweden

Back in June Swedish post-punk six-piece We Are The Storm was one half of our twenty-fifth and very melancholic SpaceScan. As our very own tradition dictates we asked them the classic four questions and after a little vacation plus a few problems with band communication here are guitarist Magnus Wikmark’s answers.
Who?
“There’s a lot to say, so let’s keep it short. We Are The Storm was formed in Uppsala, Sweden, in the fall of 2008 by Staffan, Ludde, Sebastian, Magnus and a drummer called Erik. Erik soon left and made place for Rikard behind the drums. Our debut EP (‘We Are The Storm’) was written during the cold winter months and recorded in March 2009. The EP was released in April and soon after that Jonas joined the band.
A mini-tour in Sweden and some sporadic shows was made to promote the EP. It was well received all over (Swedish indie media, It’s A Trap, Indiepassion, allscandinavian, swedesplease, absolute noise… BLA BLA BLA). This summer is being spent writing new material and a new EP will be recorded in the fall of 2009.”
Where?
“Uppsala, Sweden. 200.000 inhabitants, 40.000 are students. Good parties, good people.”
What?
“We’ve heard people trying to fit us into a wide spectra of genres, don’t know what I think about that. If someone ask I’ll just say: Pop music.”
Why?
“Because we love pop music and each other. We spend a lot of time together making music and enjoying the company of the other band members.”
