Turboweekend: Ghost Of A Chance
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Rock

Two years ago Danish trio Turboweekend released their club-rocking debut ‘Night Shift’ that earned them power play on national radio and nominations for Best Newcomer of the Year at two of the big Danish award shows, P3 Gold and Zulu Awards. This year the followup, ‘Ghost Of A Chance’, have repeated the radio success and come award time more nominations should at the very least be added to the collection.
Recorded and produced by the band in their own studio in Copenhagen this second full length album marks a few changes. Although many of the eleven songs are still very fit for weekend dance floor excess, the tight, hard-hitting electro has been replaced with a loftier, but somber expression, carried with immense power and feeling by singer Silas Bjerregaard who’s really flourished the past two years and stands as a highlight throughout.
As have Turboweekend as a whole. They will get to your feet and/or soul with immediately captivating new wave disco album opener ‘Trouble Is’ and ‘Something Or Nothing’ (the prominent bass-line and thumping beat elegantly tracing back to the debut), ominous first single ‘After Hours’ sporting one of the best choruses on the album, and haunting ballad ‘Sweet Jezebel’. All playing prominent parts in making ‘Ghost Of A Chance’ an impressive second effort.
