On the Meadow with Golden Kanine and Killer Clan of F.U.N.

Starting today, new guest blogger Pär Berglund, avid writer on Meadow Music among others, will be enriching ALL SCANDINAVIAN. He’s kindly agreed to take us around the Swedish meadow once a month, this first trip presenting Golden Kanine and Killer Clan of F.U.N.. So, without further ado I hereby give the word to Mr. Berglund.
This is my first post here on allscandinavian.com, and I will get back to you each month. Mainly I will focus on presenting some favorite gems I have found in the Swedish music treasure. New and upcoming artists in various genres, and artists you may not have heard of yet. Below you can download both tracks presented here.
I’ll begin with the band Golden Kanine. A little less than a year ago I heard a version of their song ‘A World To Save’ and it just hooked me from the first line. It doesn’t happen that often, and I don’t mind being patient with music, letting songs grow upon you, but it’s a great feeling to get hit by a song like that. This song is now featured on their fresh debut album ‘Scissors And Happiness’ (Stargazer Records), an album that more than met my high expectations.
They began as guitar-heavy indierock, but the debut album shows a real transformation into a more acoustic, closer and warmer sound. It’s varied and playful, with nice melodies in a kind of indierock/pop, folkish style with guitars, trombones and mandolins and more. Listen to ‘A World To Save’ here and then head over to their Myspace page for more.

Next up something completely different. Killer Clan of F.U.N. (photo) is hard rock. Hard rock with a blues heart and some punkish influences. They have molded classic influences like Mötley Crüe, Accept, Guns ’N Roses, AC/DC, Rainbow and Aerosmith into their own mix and they play with classical hard rock gestures both in their live performances and in their songwriting.
They too recently released their eponymous debut album. A real energetic rock album with the lead singer Maniac on the loose. For us rock lovers this is also a guitar party with beautiful rock riffs toasting the walls. I have included the opening track ‘Tattletail’ here, so you can judge for yourself. On their website you can listen to the album and read more about them.
