SpaceScan09 #34: Izakaya Heartbeat and Staireo
Categories: Features • Norway • Rock • Sweden

A much needed weekend is nigh, but before I shut down I got two rock treats for you courtesy of Izakaya Heartbeat and Staireo. The first are Norwegian and excites with massive psychedelic rock, the latter a Swedish quartet playing driving Anglo-American indierock with a superb sense of pop. As it would be expected by a Swedish band. Anyway, I’ll leave you to it – and have a great weekend.
Izakaya Heartbeat (NO)
Backed by members from Epikurs Euforie, Le Corbeau and Serena Maneesh among many others, singer/guitarist and Izakaya Heartbeat main man, Christian Larsen, twist minds and souls with massive, guitar dominated psychedelic rock. The three songs on MySpace really have me looking forward to their debut album, ‘Ancient Asobi/In Arcadia’, which will be released in November.

Staireo (SE) (Photo)
They’ve been around since 2000 and have released an EP plus two albums in Japan and Australia, with a third coming out sometime this year. Staireo excel in driving Anglo-American style indierock combined with the always superb Swedish sense of pop and a Peter Gabriel ring to lead singer James Wendt’s vocal.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
