From ad to art: Three recent highlights
Categories: Denmark • Features • Videos

Much has happened since art-pop quartet Kliché began taking the visual aspects of music and music videos seriously as one of the first bands in Denmark. The new generation of Danish video directors aspire to expand the universe of the songs they work with instead of just illustrating it. Here are three contemporary videos with some of the biggest Danish bands right now, done by three of the most popular instructors.
Kashmir: Rocket Brothers (2003)
A simple animated video that takes its title literally. Two brothers work together on building a rocket, until a woman gets in the way. Directed by movie maker, cartoonist etc. Anders Morgenthaler.
Carpark North: Human (2005)
Martin De Thurah’s breakthrough video, in which the churning emotions of puberty take on physical form.
Nephew: Science Fiction & Familien (2006)
Lasse Martinussen’s video relaunches one of Denmark’s best selling bands as darker and more adult.
