This year legendary Danish label Crunchy Frog celebrate their fifteenth anniversary, and as part of the party they have compiled 25 cover versions of songs from their back catalogue done by 25 non-Crunchy artists on the double album ‘Saluting The Crunchy Frog-a-logue’ (check the full track list below), a solid testament to Crunchy’s first fifteen years as innovative and gutsy label.

The interpreting artists have been free to choose who and which song they’d cover, and the results range from the plain weird (The Wong Boys vs PowerSolo doing the last’s ‘Kat Nazer’ mixed with an old kid’s song) to matches made in heaven with 60s garage rock outfit Thee Attacks’ version of 80s retro synth-pop six-piece Superheroes’ hit ‘Johnny And I’. A song working just perfectly in both styles.

Elsewhere Slaraffenland take The Raveonettes and their ‘That Great Love Sound’ to a place where the Danish garage rock duo have never been, Choir Of Young Believers do the stripped down beautiful to First Floor Power’s ‘Goddamn Your Fingers’, while The Asteroids Galaxy Tour flip The Raveonettes’ 60s garage gem ‘Attack Of The Ghost Riders’ upside down and inside out (in the player below).

Other really good bits worth highlighting are trio Frederik Thaae (A Kid Hereafter etc), Manoj Ramdas (Spektr) and Dorthe Gerlach (Hush) 70s movie soundtrack version of Düreforsög’s ‘Beach’, Death To Frank Ziyanak’s somber take on 18th Dye’s ‘Soft The Hard Way’ and yet another Raveonettes song in Baby Woodrose’s cool cover of ‘Beat City’.
