SpaceScan09 #38: Me, The Slumbering Napoleon and Trust
Categories: Denmark • Features • Iceland • Rock

We’re nearing in on beer o’clock, but before the weekend excess takes everybody elsewhere I got a couple of thrashy rock treats for you. First up Danish duo Trust with their massive sounding mixture of prog, math and noise rock, followed by Icelandic trio Me, The Slumbering Napoleon, who makes a perfect match for drinking and bobbing of heads.
Trust (DK) (Photo)
Brand new Copenhagen duo Trust (formed last year on the ashes of Up In Arms) kick asses with their enticing mixture of stoner, prog, math and noise rock. It’s thrillingly equilibristic and delightfully thrashy and you just gotta be impressed by the fact that two guys – Lars B. Laursen (drums/vocals/sounds) and Henrik W. Hald (guitar/vocals/loops) – can deliver such a massive, complex sound.

Me, The Slumbering Napoleon (ISL)
Not entirely unlike Trust is Icelandic trio Me, The Slumbering Napoleon (a name suggesting a healthy lust for world domination). Dirty guitars and ditto basslines, thumping drums and lyrics totally devoid any high-end artistic ambition is the core, at least judging by ‘She’s A Maniac’, the one song they have sent in circulation so far. They have an album in the works, but there’s yet no information on release date, title etc.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
