SpaceScan09 #39: Before The Show and Lothar
Categories: Denmark • Features • Rock • Sweden

Our weekly trip around MySpace continues, this time around presenting two indierock outfits from Denmark and Sweden. The first are quintet Before The Show, who use math-rock elements as well dosed spice. The latter Stockholm seven-piece Lothar, who love noisy guitars just as much as they love gazing at their shoes.
Before The Show (DK) (Photo)
Originally a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Laurids Smedegaard, Before The Show is today a quintet with a debut album ready to be released (no date yet). It’s elegantly innovative indierock in the veins of Death Cab For Cutie, spiced up with a few math-rock elements for maximum effect. Excellent!

Lothar (SE)
From Stockholm comes Lothar, a seven-piece dabbling in shoegazing and severely noisy indierock with airy, paper thin female vocals as effective contrast. Their debut album ‘Montgolfier’ is out in Japan and the US, but they have yet to find a European/Swedish label – a testament to the border-less online world we live in, I guess.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
