Oh No Ono: Eggs
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Rock

The difficult second is one of the biggest clichés in music, and rightfully so. However, every so often a band makes a mockery of said cliché. Danish art-rockers Oh No Ono is such a band. Because with this sophomore effort they’ve created a magnificently inspired album.
Following up on their surprising and exciting debut ‘Yes’ (2006), the quintet have abandoned the manic tempo, tuned down the ditto helium vocals a bit and gone theatrically prog with the help of 60s psychedelia and The Beatles. The songs and arrangements are boldly ambitious, varied and detailed, almost overwhelmingly so at times, but the band always bring it home with a perfect sense of pop (overdone ‘Eve’ the only swing ‘n miss in my book).
It is impressive, and now they’ve also raised brows outside their native Denmark. Last week it was made official that Friendly Fire Recordings and Leaf Label have signed Oh No Ono for the international release of ‘Eggs’ in early 2010. So keep your eyes and ears out; this is one album you’ll want to check out…
