SpaceScan this week invites you on another varied musical tour of MySpace. Danish Le Fiasko will flip your ears with their symphonic indie-folk, Swedish hip hop slash electronica quartet Maskinen will (hopefully) make you dance, while electro-funk solo artist Birk Storm (DK) may well become one of your new favorites.

Le Fiasko (DK)
A collective comprised of musicians from established bands like Under Byen, Atoi, Sidste Ambulance and Choir Of Young Believers, Danish Le Fiasko move about the same neo-folk waters as American Akron/Family and Animal Collective. It’s a grand creative force, driven by lead singer/cellist Cæcilie Trier and a liberating disrespect for every agreed musical convention. Slap on your headphones, lean back and surrender!

In January excellent hip hop/electronica outfit Maskinen was reported to Swedish police for smash hit ‘Alla Som Inte Dansar Är Våldtäktsmän’ (In English, “Everybody not dancing are rapists”) by a 32 year old man who felt that the song made criminals of everybody not, well, dancing, completely failing to grasp the humor of the (brilliant, by the way) song. A distant relative to Familjen, Maskinen will tear up clubs everywhere. Now start dancing. Or don’t, depending…

Birk Storm (DK)
Birk Storm, a much used Danish session drummer, is currently finishing work on his debut album, slated for release February 2009 on the cool electronica label VUF, and it’s something to look forward to. Funky and catchy as hell, Birk Storm is set to be a plague that makes your booty move with an impressive number of (potential) hits. Three are available on MySpace, and there are no really good reasons not to check him out.
