On the Meadow with One Man Freac Show and ad dios

October 20 means time for another trip around the Swedish meadow with Pär Berglund from Meadow Music, this one presenting two very different acts. First up indiepop and -rock from One Man Freac Show aka Fredric Johansson, followed by ambient electronica duo ad dios who explores Tolkien’s universe on their sixth effort ‘A Journey Through Middle Earth’.
One of the nicest surprises this summer was when I listened to One Man Freac Show’s new album ‘Hemma’. Fredric Johansson, who is the man behind One Man Freac Show (photo), has created a solid, fresh, varied album which is fun to listen to. To characterize the music I would say that it is about indie pop/rock with some Ed Harcourt vibes and sometimes a scent of Foo Fighters. Good songwriting and an interesting voice.
Fredric has his hands in a number of projects. Right now he is on tour with Detektivbyrån in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, both as drummer in Detektivbyrån and as a supporting act with One Man Freac Show. Here’s the video for ‘Johnny You’re OK’ from ‘Hemma’, which is available on Itunes and other major internet shops as well as a can-be free download on OMFS’s homepage.
If you’re into the ambience that celtic myths and legends generates I can recommend ad dios, who have recently released their sixth album, ‘A Journey Through Middle Earth’. It was perhaps inevitable that this electronica/ambient duo’s journey through celtic landscapes someday would take them to the world of Tolkien, describing Middle Earth from their point of view 11 tracks with beautiful melodies and ambience.
You can listen to the full ‘A Journey Through Middle Earth’ on ad dios’ homepage, but before you leave here’s a taste in the shape and sound of ‘Isengard’.
