Mustasch: Mustasch
Categories: Albums • Metal • Sweden

Many bands these days are kind of hard to label genre-wise. You know, it’s rock, although a little indie and kinda pop with electronica elements et cetera. Not Mustasch. ‘Heresy Blasphemy’, opening track from the Swedes’ latest, eponymous album, starts of with a roaring guitar riff. Short pause. The sound of a gun cocking. More grueling guitars and then the first line: “Hey Satan, here I am”. That would be heavy metal then…
The quartet has been around for years, but really hit the sweet spot with their magnificient 2007 album ‘Latest Version of the Truth’. Their new album is equally good: Old school metal with nifty guitar work, ace choruses and nods to Black Sabbath and other metal greats.
There’s not much more to say, really. If you liked ‘Latest Version of the Truth’ you will definitely like this one. If you like no nonsense heavy metal you’ll like it. If you just like stuff that’s really loud and fast and stuff you will probably like it too (and be more than willing to forget the fact that you don’t have to be a linguistics professor to guess that English isn’t Mustasch front man Ralf Gyllenhammer’s native tongue…).
