Mike Sheridan: I Syv Sind
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Electronica

He’s just 16. Not that age should matter, because had he been crap this story would’ve ended here. However, Danish electronica artist Mike Sheridan is about as far from sucking as I am from becoming president of the United States (which is really quite far), displaying impressive musical talent on this debut album.
Born in 1991 Sheridan began making music at the age of eight and barely a teen he started getting his first DJ-gigs. 13 years old he becomes one of the youngest recording artists in electronica history, when Danish techno label M.I.S. releases the EP ‘Alt & Intet’ (“Everything & Nothing”) and last year he was present on the two compilations ‘Radio Recordings 4’ and ‘Hjemstavn’, plus doing an impressive number of gigs alongside greats like Trentemøller, Kenneth Bager, T.O.M. & Buda and Dimitri From Paris to name a few.
This year he’s spent in his parents’ basement finishing his debut full length, ‘I Syv Sind’ (best translated to “In Two Minds”). All instrumental, apart from ‘Stilhed’ featuring Sheridan’s friend, Frida, and ‘Med Små Skridt’ featuring Danish singer Maya Albana, it’s a two-part album in mood, starting with the very early hours of day and advancing into dark night halfway through, completely skipping the creative void that is broad daylight.
With a remarkably integral expression (age and all considered) Sheridan dishes out ace reverb-ridden melancholy on 11 crackling, ambient electro tracks on plates of deep and dark dub-grooves, creating a dramatic and beautiful atmosphere that could call for a few outer space-metaphors (Insert your own here: _____________). But more than anything ‘I Syv Sind’ is basically just a really great album.

I START TO KNOW MIKE SHERIDAN TONIGHT
AND GOGGLE HERE
MIKE IS A REALLY GREAT TALENT MUSICIAN, KNOW HOW TO GRAP THE MOOD OF THE WHOLE ELECTRONIC SOUNDS.
BUT TOO ME, IT’S A BIT LITTLE SIMILAR WITH TRENTEMOLLER, AND THAT’S WHY I FALL IN LOVE WITH MIKE’S MUSIC IN THE FIRST LISTEN.
HOW HE COULD BRING OUT MORE OF HIS ORIGINAL SOUNDS.
WAITING ON FOR THE WHOLE ALBUM TO GET THE WHOLE PITCURE!
