Finally the talented songwriter Tobbe Möller (photo) has released an album in his own name. There are quite a few of us that have been asking for that for some time now, and I was very pleased when I noticed that the six-track album ‘Great Tonight’ was available on the major digital shops.

There’s a special tone in his voice, a sadness, that in a way goes hand in hand with his subtle lyrics. For us aficionados for classic pop derived from the late Beatles era, his song portfolio is a treasure. Great melodies that stick in your head and a sound that makes me think of artists from the mid-seventies like ELO and Bowie.

The Broken Assembly is a new project where Lasse Thomasson (Strangers In Wonderland) has teamed up with Helena Ahlbäck. From the “attitude pop”-area, Lasse has now moved on to a style more laden with blues, rock and country rock. At least that’s what it seems so far.

I have been following the development of the songs for their first EP, scheduled for Q1 next year, and it’s been quite an interesting journey. Now they’re ready with the first track, ‘Emotional’, a seductive blues rock piece with great Patti Smith inspired vocals from Helena.

They were kind enough to let me include ‘Emotional’ here both for listening and download (Right Click + Save As here!), and if you like it you can get more on what they’re up to through videos and music previews etc on their blog.
