The Haunted has been praised as one of the hottest metal acts in Sweden for ten years now. That, however, does not make the band rest on the laurels. After their quite experimental 2006-album ‘The Dead Eye’, the Gothenburg-based band has taken a more in-your-face-like approach to metal which works out quite well.

‘Versus’ is largely recorded live in the studio and you can hear that at once. The tracks are incredibly energy-laden and at times it sounds like there is a group of angry Swedes armed with guitars right in your living room.

Despite the brutality of ‘Versus’ The Haunted never loose track of the melody, and there is plenty of room for virtuoso guitar work and frontman Peter Dolvings impressive vocal range.

Stand out tracks include the hyper energetic ‘Crusher’ and the brilliant ‘Rivers Run’ where frontman Peter Dolving gets a chance to show just how many vocal tricks he has up his sleeve - and that’s quite a few.
