SpaceScan09 #51: Viktor Kingo and Lotta
Categories: Faroe Islands • Features • Finland • Rock

The second to last SpaceScan this year presents two singer/songwriters – a guy and a girl – from Finland and the Faroe Islands. Lotta Jääskelä represents Finland with her elegant folk ‘n blues compositions, while Faroese singer Viktor Kingo flashes his love for Cash, Dylan and Young. Listen, leave a comment and then head into MySpace.

24 year-old Finnish singer/songwriter Lotta Jääskelä released her second album ‘Blue Autumn’ this September, following up on her 2007 debut ‘It’s About The Feeling’, and it really is two very aptly titled albums. Founded on a girl-and-her-guitar bedrock, the songs are enhanced with delicately applied strings, keys, pedal steel, drums etc. and carried by a voice you want to wake up besides. Half of ‘Blue Autumn’ is streaming on MySpace along with four songs from her debut, so go check it out.

Viktor Kingo (FO)
I can’t really tell you a whole lot about this Faroese singer/songwriter other than he was born September 12, 2009 (I’m assuming that’s as an artist – if not, he’s one gifted kid), is currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is really into Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. This info all comes from Viktor Kingo’s Facebook page as his MySpace is of absolutely no use, which also means I don’t know the title of the one song I’ve been able to find. But I do quite like it…

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
