We do realize this is the second Friday of 2010 and thus this SpaceScan should’ve been the second, but holidays and hangovers (moral and/or physical) just don’t match with work, so… Anyway, here are Complicated Universal Cum and Team Me for your listening pleasure. Both are solo projects by two very busy musicians, the first Denmark’s Frederik Valentin and the second Norway’s Marius Drogsås Hagen.

Danish guitarist/singer/songwriter/drummer and more, Frederik Valentin, is a busy man. Later this year he will be putting out records with Rock Hard Power Spray and a favorite of ours, Vomit Supreme. On top he’s active in a few other bands but somehow he’s managed to record a solo album as well. Judging from the tracks available on Complicated Universal Cum’s (don’t ask – we don’t know) MySpace page, the album is pretty damn awesome. And weird. Everything is made in Valentin’s apartment with guitar and mic plugged directly into a Mac and mixed on GarageBand. Still the music is multilayered, complex and sounds very much like a soundtrack for a movie. A B/W movie with femmes fatales, lots of smoking and midgets speaking backwards, that is. (TB)

Team Me (NO)
Another busy bee is Norwegian singer and songwriter Marius Drogsås Hagen aka Team Me. Last year he released a second album with hard rock outfit Jaqueline (a third on the way this year), he produced sounds and music for the game Spaceball 2000 and recorded an album as SIN, a collaboration with The Wombats’ Tord Øverland Knudsen which is slated for release sometime this year. Finally – and the reason you’re reading this – he does magical, semi-acoustic pop with influences from acts like Efterklang, Sigur Rós and Sufjan Stevens as Team Me, and hopefully the 24 year-old will find time in his busy schedule to do an album with this as well sometime soon. Until then we’ll enjoy the five songs streaming on MySpace. (PK)
