SpaceScan10 #4: Good Morning June and Betting On The Mouse
Categories: Alternative • Denmark • Features • Rock • Sweden

It is all about melancholy and great vocalists in this Friday’s SpaceScan, so if you are on a happy-high you do not want to have ruined be warned. Everyone else can safely(?) embrace Swedish melodic indierock quintet with the somewhat deceiving name Good Morning June, and Danish Betting On The Mouse who are sure to stir up big emotions with their alternative pop.
Good Morning June (SE)
They’re from Stockholm, there are five of them – all guys – and they got a five song, self-titled EP coming out in a short while. And I really like Good Morning June’s melancholic, melodic indierock carried by the amazing singer Emil Erstrand’s gentle, vulnerable voice which have you abandon all hope while filling you with a warm, fuzzy feeling that everything will somehow be all right. Eventually.

Staying within the realm of melancholy delivered with a haunting vocal here’s Betting On The Mouse, centered on principal songwriter and expressive singer Martha Marie Skou. Sharing some characteristics with other Danish acts like Chimes & Bells and Under Byen, BOTM move in original, alternative ways, combining folk, pop, jazz, electro and noise in imaginative and highly emotional soundscapes.
