SpaceScan10 #5: Leif And The Future and Jermaine

Categories: FeaturesFinlandNorwayRock

Words: K

Another weekend is nigh, but before we leave here are two Scandinavian rock bands with undeniable abilities when it comes to catchy hooks. First up are Finnish quartet Jermaine deliver grandiose power-pop and they are followed by Norwegian quintet Leif And The Future who excel in dark-ish pop-rock rooted in new wave. Enjoy and have a grand weekend.

Jermaine (SF)
This Finnish quartet is pretty established, with a third album titled ‘Jermajesty’ coming out early March, but that’s no good excuse to not feature Jermaine in our SpaceScan series. Because this is just really catchy, grandiose power-pop with loads of guitars and solid hooks.

Leif And The Future (NO) (Photo)
With inspiration found in 80s new wave Norwegian quintet Leif And The Future dish out fetching, dark-ish pop-rock driven forward by rolling bass lines and intricate drumming (the last courtesy of Kaizers Orchestra drummer Rune Solheim). A debut album is in the making, but there’s no further info on that matter right now.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
