SpaceScan10 #6: Bored Man Overboard and Art of Ape
Categories: Denmark • Features • Rock • Sweden

North America and folk play significant supporting roles in this week’s SpaceScan, as we present the Swedish seven-piece Bored Man Overboard, who do not-so-happy indie-folk-rock, and Danish one man band Art of Ape, who is not really any happier just more lo-fi about it. Enjoy both and have a perfect weekend.
Bored Man Overboard (SE)
From Stockholm, Sweden, comes this seven-piece who works the North American indie-folk-rock tradition like someone who works something really well. Bored Man Overboard are perfectly gloomy, the mood nicely summed up in the line: “It’s better to crawl than eventually fall” (‘A Song For A Bird’), and they released the ‘Sinner Song EP’ late last year from which you can check out four songs on MySpace.

Emil Davidsen, the man behind the moniker Art of Ape, also released an EP last year with four beautiful pops of his lo-fi alt-folk not entirely unlike compatriots Let Me Play Your Guitar, impressing with his haunting and imaginative choir arrangements. On his MySpace he’s streaming all four tracks from the ‘Stuck In Freedom’ EP plus one song, and if you like what you hear even more songs are available on his Bandbase profile.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
