SpaceScan10 #7: Blackroom and B.A.B.Y
Categories: Electronica • Faroe Islands • Features • Norway • Rock

The two acts in this week’s SpaceScan have only one thing in common musically: Electro. Faroese dj/producer Brynjolfur aka B.A.B.Y is all-in with his minimal house, while Norwegian trio Blackroom in comparison are more discrete with the electronic elements in their grandiose rock. Both are excellent acts, though, and I hope you will like them with me.
Blackroom (NO) (Photo)
Formerly known as Lorraine this Norwegian trio apparently had a little something going for them a few years back, but lost out as they didn’t quite fit in the musical (radio) landscape at the time. Last year Blackroom released their debut proper, ‘Pop Noir’, a title that is one “electro” short of being absolutely spot on.

B.A.B.Y (FO)
He’s Faroese, but currently living in Copenhagen. His real name is Brynjolfur, but here running with the alias B.A.B.Y, a project he started back in 2008. He states warehouses as his one and only influence, and it’s not really hard to imagine people with water bottles in the right hand and glow sticks in the left rave out to his minimal electro house in a, er, warehouse.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
