On the Meadow with Dubious Quip and Class of Kill’em High

It’s been a while, but now guest blogger Pär Berglund from Meadow Music is again ready to take us on the monthly trip around the Swedish musical meadow. His first contribution this year presents Daniel Rosenholm’s soul/hip hop solo project Dubious Quip and rocking quartet Class of Kill’em High. Check them out and let us know what you think.
I think that Class of Kill’em High do a really good job at finding their own path in a region which I feel is inspired by Foo Fighters and The Strokes. Good melodies, a lot of playfulness in the arrangements and a lot of variation. Personally I like their version of dirty indie-rock’n'roll the best as in the track ‘Ultima Hombre’. Class of Kill’em High was formed back in 2003, but it wasn’t until last year that the band settled in their present line-up with founder and singer Markus Pallof fronting the band.
Here’s the video for ‘Ultima Hombre’:
Dubious Quip (photo) aka Daniel Rosenholm released the single ‘Obedient Minds’ a little more than a year ago, a cool laidback track with his own mix of soul, reggae and hip hop. A couple of months ago he finally released the seven-track album ‘Obedient Minds’. He continues on the road he started with the single and takes it a step further. Ulf Ljusberg joins in on a couple of songs and the combination between Mr. Quips electric vibes and Ulf’s acoustic guitar and bass is great. Furthermore, excellent rap is supplied by Pitz on Ulf Ljusberg’s ‘Make It Right’ and R.A.W. on ‘Oh My My My’.
