SpaceScan08 #8: Dead By April, Transport and Bjarne Langhoff
Categories: Denmark • Features • Finland • Metal • Pop • Rock • Sweden

The weekend is nearing, but before you leave to do whatever it is you do in the weekends, we’ve got a SpaceScan lined up for your listening pleasure. This week offers Swedish metal á la My Chemical Romance, Finnish art-school pop/rock and a little Danish something for those who remember Nik Kershaw.
Transport (SF)
Any band who claims to be inspired by both Venom and Janis Joplin is certainly worth a listen. And so indeed is the – for reasons unbeknownst to us – unsigned Finnish outfit Transport who plays a curios ironic blend of rock, pop and art school. In a really cool way. (TB)
Dead By April (SE) (Photo)
Awesome metal band from Sweden that effortlessly blends pop, rock and really bad ass-metal - think My Chemical Romance with much less whining and much, much larger balls. Dead By April have only released a demo so far, but they are going to be huge in the future. Trust us. (TB)
Bjarne Langhoff (DK)
I must admit I have a thing for 1980s pop-maestro Nik Kershaw. There, I’ve said it. And that’s one reason why Danish singer Bjarne Langhoff works really well for me. One other is his incredible vocal skills and a third his indisputable knack for writing catchy pop songs, coated in grandiose arrangements á la aforementioned Kershaw and Toto. There, I’ve said it. Now you listen. (PK)

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop MySpace-links to: spacescan@allscandinavian.com
