SpaceScan10 #10: Johnny Superhero and The Cheaters
Categories: Features • Finland • Norway • Rock

Our tenth SpaceScan of 2010 is all about rock – and trios looking back. Norwegian The Cheaters deliver kick-ass 1960s garage rock, while Finland’s Johnny Superhero touch on 90s grunge. Both bands are working on releasing an album this year, and we really can’t help looking forward to both. Hope you’ll enjoy them with us…
The Cheaters (NO)
This Norwegian trio released their eponymous debut back in 2007, and by the looks of it a followup will be out sometime this year. Three songs from the debut album and one from the ‘You Want More?’ EP (2006) are streaming on The Cheaters’ MySpace, and if you enjoy gritty, bad boy 60s garage rock Øyvind, Henrik and Andreas are your go-to guys.

Another trio, this one from Finland, Johnny Superhero are currently adding the finishing touches to their debut proper titled ‘Homes’ (no release date yet). Indierock with an aggressive touch of grunge is their game, and if you dig ‘Ghosts’ playing below (download it here!) you really should check out the other two songs from ‘Homes’ on MySpace.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
