The Floor Is Made Of Lava: Howl At The Moon
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Rock

Back in 2007 Danish quartet The Floor Is Made Of Lava released their Arctic Monkeys inspired dance floor rock debut ‘All Juice, No Fruit’ to solid critical acclaim, and Monday their sophomore effort ‘Howl At The Moon’, presenting a surprising “new” sound and direction abandoning the club appeal and sarcastic lyrics, was released in Denmark.
At a pre-listening session back in February lead singer Tobias Kippenberger said that this is “just a rock album”. Nothing fancy, nothing revolutionary. Just 47 minutes of vintage southern American guitar rock with a ring of Kings Of Leon to it saluting the greats that had them fall in love with rock in the first place, among them Bruce Springsteen, Thin Lizzy and The Stooges.
Produced by Sebastian Wolff (Kellermensch) and mixed by John O’Mahony (Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs etc) ‘Howl At The Moon’ is a bold and risky move which is bound to turn off some old fans. New fans should undoubtedly be won over, however, as The Floor Is Made Of Lava bring their new selves securely home with heart, body and soul.
