Complicated Universal Cum: Complicated Universal Cum
Categories: Albums • Alternative • Denmark

‘Complicated Universal Cum’ consists of only five songs, however three tracks clock in at more than ten minutes. The album is exclusively released digitally and on vinyl. The cover is a super close-up of a pink Hello Kitty-guitar. So if asked to boil Complicated Universal Cum down to one word it would be “weird.” The slightly longer version would be “weird, but also totally f***ing awesome!”
CUC is a one man band consisting of 25 year-old Frederik Valentin of Rock Hard Power Spray, Vomit Supreme and many more, and the album is really hard to categorize. Usually when you hear a new band you are able to say “this sounds like Band A meets Band B” or “they remind me of…”, etc.
This album won’t remind you of anything – unless you are the type of person who aren’t afraid of eating mushrooms that may or may not be poisonous. Likewise I’m pretty sure it’s not polka, but besides that it is hard to say which musical genre we’re talking about. It doesn’t really matter though: The album is ace.
You should give all five songs a listen, but the two standout tracks (for me anyway) are the almost radio friendly, country-ish, Tarantino-soundtrack-like ‘I Can Hardly Wait’, a duet with himself, and ‘The Wrong Day To Say Something’, a 10:43 minute song that constantly changes, evolves and grows until your head explodes.
Genre: Your guess is as good as ours
