SpaceScan08 #9: Forest & Crispian and Captain Credible
Categories: Electronica • Features • Norway • Rock • Sweden

Without offending the artistic integrity of the featured bands in this edition of SpaceScan, it should be safe to say that humor plays an important part in their universes. We give you, from Malmö, Sweden, New Wave Barber Shop Rock trio Forest & Crispian and out of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, one-man electronica band Captain Credible.

In 2006 this Swedish New Wave Barber Shop Rock trio released their great debut album ‘Modern Sensation’, followed by touring through 2007. Since then it’s been somewhat quiet around them, but November 3 new song ‘Insane Lorraine’ will be part of four track digital EP, ‘Jokers #1’, released by new Danish label, Rust Music (run by Copenhagen venue Rust). ‘Insane Lorraine’ is, however, already available on Last.fm and it’s a sweet 60s rock succession to ‘Modern Sensation’, from which you can check out six tracks on their MySpace.
Captain Credible (NO)
English born, Norwegian based Daniel Lacey-McDermott aka Captain Credible states coffee among his influences (that and “other music”), and it isn’t hard imagining massive caffeine overdoses being a driving force in his weird and chaotic, yet cohesive and utterly entertaining Atari-electronica, created on homemade sound generators with apt names like Darth Fader, Weird Sound Generator and Epileptic Bird Synth.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop MySpace-links to: spacescan@allscandinavian.com
