In an attempt to do something about the rather bad conscience disturbing my sleep, a new, irregular feature is launched today. As the title suggests, it’s all about getting around more of the copious amounts of emails with great music hitting the ALL SCANDINAVIAN inbox. Tracks (some free) and videos will be the main content, but this first also features four iPhone applications. So, without further ado, here’s the first edition of From the Inbox:
ROBYN (SE) (Photo)
This year Swedish electropop diva Robyn plan to release no less than three albums, kicking off with ‘Body Talk Pt. 1’ come June. Two very promising singles are out now, ‘Fembot’ and ‘None Of Dem’ featuring Norwegian duo Röyksopp. Check out the first on Robyn’s MySpace and the second below.

HILDE LOUISE ASBJØRNSEN (NO)
March 22 Norwegian singer Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen released her fifth album, ‘Never Ever Going Back’, in Norway. I got it and will tell you more about it soon, but for now check out this video for single ‘When You Are Gone’, produced and directed by Blunderbuss and Svein Kvamme.
THE DEER TRACKS (SE)
This month Swedish duo The Deer Tracks (David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors) released the EP ‘Eggegrund’, following up on their acclaimed debut album ‘Aurora’. Named after the small island on which it’s recorded the EP sports four lush electropop songs and opening track ‘Bless The Waves’ has been made available for free download.

SQUAREFEET (SF)
Building up to the release of the Squarefeet album ‘Flat Foot’ (expected this spring) Finnish producer Pepe Kosminen has released the two EPs ‘Fat Feet’ (Dec. 2009) and ‘Fujisan’ (Feb. 2010). Both are relatively downbeat, funky and slightly psychedelic, playing with organic samples on an electronic bedrock.

DMITRY FYODOROV (SE)
March 1 Swedish minimal electro duo Dmitry Fyodorov released their awaited, digital only, debut album ‘Shapeless’, which you can download for free in a mixtape format by following the link below. Accompanying the album are also a free iPhone drum machine application and the slightly disturbing video for track ‘Simcoe’, made by SektorFilm.

VISHNUDATA (SF)
Finnish producer Valo Lankinen was part of January’s installment of the Music Alliance Pact with his solo project Vishnudata and the track ‘Silver Falls’ from his eponymous second album (Sep. 2009). The same month he released the ‘Silver Falls EP’ containing the original and three remixes by Accu, Jimi Python and Mellow Dog Society.

FREE HYBRIS IPHONE APPLICATION
As the first Swedish record label, Hybris released an iPhone application in December with which you can stream music, watch music videos by Hybris artists (among them our favorite Jonathan Johansson), get the latest news and interact with the label and its artists. All for free. Which, incidentally, also is the price of the app. Get it here!
FREE SARCOFAGUS IPHONE APPLICATION
In March the godfathers of Finnish metal, Sarcofagus, announced their return to the live circuit after a 29 year break. To celebrate the quintet, officially Finland’s first metal band, have released an iPhone app with more than two hours of music and video content from their career. Get it for absolutely nothing here!
PROMISED LAND OF HEAVY METAL IPHONE APPLICATION
In February UK-based Finnish filmmakers Kimmo Kuusniemi (founding member of Sarcofagus) and Tanja Katinka Karttunen became the first to release an indie-film as an iPhone app. The subject is their 2009 documentary Promised Land Of Heavy Metal, which tells the story Finnish metal from its early underground days to the mainstream success of today. The 52-minute film features among many others Finnish acts HIM, Lordi, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish and Children Of Bodom plus international acts like Entombed, Dimmu Borgir, Killswitch Engage and Carcass.
