Another month has passed and guest blogger Pär Berglund from Meadow Music is ready to take us around the Swedish musical meadow once again, this time presenting indie-folk trio Heart-Sick Groans and duo Youth And Student Travel, who both have a free EP available for download. I was quite excited the other day when I got a message from Youth And Student Travel, that they had released their third EP ‘YAST 3’ and asked me to have a listen. I really loved their first two EP’s and this was no different. They have a way of reinventing themselves with each release, although maintaining their own indie personality. From the raw, unpolished, spontaneous feeling of their first EP to the more controlled, thoughtful, late Velvet Underground-ish second, ‘Copy Me, Copy You’, to the new one which has a richer sound and a different vocals expression.

It seems to me like they’re searching for something, some kind of identity or the core of their music, and at the same time creating great music, without realizing how good they are. Listen to and download ‘YAST 3′ on Bandcamp.

A band that charmed many a little more than a year ago was Heart-Sick Groans (photo). While the band name sounds ”heavy”, the music is quite the opposite: It’s music that makes you happy, as they have managed to combine folk and singer/songwriter style music with indiepop in a new way, full of fantasy and playfulness.

They released a seven-track EP, ‘Gentlemen, If You Ain’t Right, Get Right!’, earlier this year which you can listen to and download on Bandcamp.
