SpaceScan10 #18: Wedding Crashers and Ripe
Categories: Denmark • Features • Finland • Metal • Rock

Our eighteenth SpaceScan of 2010 features unfashionable 80s metal power chords and a quest for an electric butt. The first is delivered by Danish quintet Ripe, who’s got their debut album ‘A Moment Of Forever’ out now, and the latter by Finnish trio Wedding Crashers, who’s got their first single out and about. Check them out, let us know what you think and then have a great weekend.

Most bands in history have come in to existence with one main purpose: To get with the girls. No different with Finnish trio Wedding Crashers, only here it’s one specific girl in a Roxette shirt one of the guys fell in love with and lost again in a bar on Boxing Day. To get her attention, they published a two-page ad in a music magazine promoting their first tongue-in-cheek rock ‘n Cali surf-punk single saluting her ‘Electric Butt’, which you can download for free at (of course) electricbutt.com.

Ripe (DK)
Danish metallers Ripe make no attempts to hide their love of 80s metal and their presumably extensive collection of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Saxon records on their debut, ‘A Moment Of Forever’, which is 50 minutes and 18 seconds of unfashionable power chords, high pitched singing and great fun. Oh, and the bass player is called Bob Thunder. That’s right: Bob Thunder. And there’s a track called ‘Funeral Of A Kitten’. What’s not to like? (TB)

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
