SpaceScan10 #26: Desperat Koeksmaestare and Tuvalu
Categories: Electronica • Features • Finland • Rock • Sweden

The two acts in this week’s SpaceScan have one things in common: They sing in their native tongue. First up is Swedish electropop duo Desperat Koeksmaestare and they are followed by Finnish progressive rock quartet Tuvalu, who have recently released their third full length album. Hope you’ll like them with us and then have a grand weekend.

They’re not telling anything about themselves or their music on MySpace. However, the characteristically awesome voice (and the fact that he shows his name in the email leading to it) reveals that Desperat Koeksmaestare is in fact the somber electropop work of indierock quintet Light In Your Life frontman Johann Bernövall and his partner in crime Gustav Uddgård. Four great songs are out and here’s ‘Palermo’.

Finnish quartet Tuvalu are more informative – unfortunately most is in their native tongue (like their lyrics) of which I speak none. Thankfully music can speak for itself and it’s definitely the case here, as the Finns tear us a new one with their massive sounding progressive rock. Tuvalu recently released their third and eponymous album, and here’s ‘Tulevien Aikojen Luurangot’.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
