Categories: Features • Iceland • Rock • Sweden

Coming up: My Closest Friend and Pascal Pinon. The first a Swedish quintet who combine alt-country and post-rock in their music, the latter an Icelandic girl duo/quartet who play simple, cozy folk-pop. Pascal Pinon are working on their second album right now, while My Closest Friend released a new single a couple of months ago.

From Múmíndalurinn, Iceland, comes Pascal Pinon, in photos a girl quartet, but in info and songwriting a duo consisting of 15 year old Ásthildur and Jófríður. Last year they released their eponymous debut, and right now they’re in the process of recording the followup – a process you can follow on their blog. It’s simple, low-key folk-pop in both English and Icelandic and here’s ‘I Wrote A Song’.

My Closest Friend (SE)
Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, My Closest Friend move about in a pleasing place between alt-country and post-rock. Back in May the quintet released the new single ‘Air’ (including B-side ‘Real Time’), which you’ll find in the player. ‘Real Time’ and two more songs are streaming on MySpace, including a live cover of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
