Our SpaceScan selected two this Friday are both gearing up to release albums in the near future. First up are Danish quintet Malrun, who excel in melodic metal, and they are followed by the great Finnish rock quartet Fuerteventura, who are among former Formula One champion Kimi Räikkönen’s favorites. Check them out, let us know what you think, and then have a splendid weekend.

I recently reviewed ‘A New Decay’ by Danish newcomers Boil, really liking it and especially singer Jacob Løbner and thus thinking to myself that it would be nice to hear more from him. Well zip-e-di-du-da, Løbner is also the vocalist in Malrun who have an album out in August. I’ve had a chance to listen and while Boil are great, Malrun are awesome. There will be a review coming up in a few weeks, but in the meantime check out Malrun’s MySpace. Even though it’s just a snippet I urge you to check out the track ‘Strapped While You Dance’. It’s one of the best new songs I have heard this year. (TB)

Fuerteventura (SF)
Apparently former Formula One world champion Kimi Räikkönen has this Finnish quartet among his favorites. Which makes good sense as Fuerteventura really are perfect for driving. Pretty fast. Looking a couple of decades back in rock history they do melodic rock, heavy on the guitars and tipping their hats to Foo Fighters, and according to plan a seven song mini-album will be released in September. For now we’ll have to do with the four songs streaming on MySpace, one being ‘Saucer’ in the player. (PK)
