Categories: Faroe Islands • Features • Iceland • Pop • Rock

Another Friday, another SpaceScan, this one bringing the grand 2010 total up to thirty and presenting Faroese rocker Fróði Hansen and his band The Pink Slips plus Icelandic powerpop quintet Ourlives, who both released their debut albums last year. As usual all we ask of you is a bit of reading, some listening and then a click on through to MySpace. Oh, and if you want to let us know what you think of the bands, then by all means do…
Fródi & The Pink Slips (FO)
He’s Faroese yet currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark, Fróði Hansen (also Moby The Pink Pilot). Last year he released his debut solo album ‘Creeping Storm’ and according to plan an EP titled ‘Patience Is A Motherfucker When You Are Living Life In Slow Motion’ will be out this summer. Musically he and The Pink Slips does rock rooted in the power blues of the late 60s/70s and you can check out four songs on MySpace.

Ourlives (ISL) (Photo)
Hailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, Ourlives play melancholic powerpop with a delicately aggressive edge at times and sharing some characteristics with compatriot Bang Gang aka Barði Jóhannsson (who incidentally has produced six songs on the quartet’s debut 2009 album ‘We Lost The Race’). Six songs are streaming on MySpace, and if you dig ‘Nuna’ in the player then go check the rest out.

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
