SpaceScan08 #13: Convoj and Gezus Crystler
Categories: Denmark • Features • Rock • Sweden

This week our SpaceScan offers two soon to be album debutants for your pleasure. Swedish quartet Convoj excel in noisy indiepop while Aarhus based duo Gezus Crystler, aka musical mavericks Kim Kix and Frank Ziyanak, mocks about something entirely their own. Now, you know the drill: Read, click and enjoy!

This Swedish quartet actually had a debut album ready to follow a debut EP and massive hype years ago. Unfortunately crisis hit the music business and the labels interested didn’t have the money to put out the album. This was around halfway through this decade. Now Convoj have found a label (Wonderland Records) and will finally release their full length debut, ‘Exceptionnel’, on December 10. It’s equally tight and bombastic, poppy and noisy, and on tracks like first single ‘The Shovel’ and ‘Grace’ indierock at its finest.

This yet another project of Danish musical maverick, Frank Ziyanak (The Wong Boys, Death To Frank Ziyanak, Simply Frank Ziyanak), who’s in the process of releasing five albums in a year by February 2009. This time around he’s teamed up with musical soulmate, Kim Kix (Powersolo, Kim And The Cinders), and the style is… Well, I dunno really. Weirdo-electro-cow-punk would perhaps cover it(?). They are ready to release an album (no date set yet) and it will consist of one track, made up of several shorter songs. Check out Gezus Crystler HERE (and don’t forget the videos).

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan@allscandinavian.com
