We don’t know how the weather is in your part of the world, but outside ALL SCANDINAVIANs offices it’s dark, windy and rainy. Honestly, we’re feeling a winter depression coming on. So don’t expect any bad ass rock’n’roll, catchy pop or danceable electronica in this weeks SpaceScan. The keywords are acoustic, moody and melancholic.

After a long hard weekend of – hopefully – partying and listening to good music you probably need to spend Sunday on the couch. Might we suggest Cody as the soundtrack? The singer/songwriter from Copenhagen plays some very low key and at times brilliant country-ish acoustic music and will release his debut EP in January. ALL SCANDINAVIAN have had the opportunity to check it out and can assure you there’s something to look forward to.

Hovering Orville (NO)
Hovering Orville is the alter ego of Birger Bekkeheien. Allegedly the young Norwegian used to play in a punk band but got kicked out for being “too skilled”. It doesn’t really matter whether that story is true or not, because our young hero decided to become a multi-instrumentalist, build a recording studio for himself and make a record. The album, titled ‘Silverlines’, has just been released and according to what’s up on MySpace it wasn’t a bad decision. If Ryan Adams was in a mellow mood – and Norwegian – he would sound like this.

Petter Carlsen (NO)
Norwegian singer/songwriter Petter Carlsen only has one track on his MySpace. Obviously we are not that impressed by this, however, that one track is quite good. It’s slow, dreamy, beautiful, and gives you a sudden urge to go to Norway, wander the fells and think about life, death and all the things in between.
