Scandinavia’s uncrowned pop princess Robyn continues her 2010 ‘Body Talk’ trilogy with another eight song album of great electropop. Sticking to the well written recipe from ‘Body Talk Pt. 1’, ‘Body Talk Pt. 2’ offer banging club tracks, awesome pop, quirky housetronica, and an acoustic album closer (this time the string-driven ‘Indestructible’).

As much credit Robyn deserves for her expressive, sexy, sweet, fiery delivery, so much credit must also go to producer and songwriter Klas Åhlund, who this time around is the mastermind behind all eight songs. That guy really knows his way around a hit, and his level of excellence over the two albums is truly impressive.

The other musical and lyrical contributors this time are, of course, Robyn herself, Kleerup (‘In My Eyes’), Alex Kronlund (‘Include Me Out’), Måns Glaeser and Carli Löf (‘Love Kills’), Thomas Pentz (‘Criminal Intent’) and Snoop Dogg (‘U Should Know Better’), while Diplo and Savage Skulls have co-produced ‘Criminal Intent’ and ‘Love Kills’ respectively.

Highlights on ‘Body Talk Pt. 2’ are opening trio ‘In My Eyes’, ‘Include Me Out’ and ‘Hang With Me’ – which was also on the previous album in an acoustic version – plus my absolute favorite, ‘U Should Know Better’. Snoop Dogg still has the coolest flow out there, and his laid back style stands in brilliant contrast to the driving beat concocted by said Åhlund and the rap-master himself.

I have the greatest respect for this ambitious project, and Robyn’s off to a great beginning and middle, but I can’t help but think what a mind-blowing one-off album, she could have made on the back of these two. Oh well, it does work rather well this way, too (and the Greatest Hits potential come Christmas is massive), so I’ll just leave you to it and begin looking forward to the final part of the trilogy, which lands later this fall.
