SpaceScan10 #41: Waves Of The Echo and Útidúr
Categories: Alternative • Features • Finland • Iceland • Rock

It’s been rather quiet on ALL SCANDINAVIAN this week, but fear not: We’re still very much around. Anyway, it’s Friday and thus time for another edition of the SpaceScan series, this one presenting two bands which were founded just last year. First up is Icelandic 12-piece Útidúr, who do alternative pop-rock with a bit of jazz in the mix, and they’re followed by the Finnish quartet Waves Of The Echo, who do very catchy indierock.

From Iceland comes this 12-piece, dabbling in alternative pop-rock with a bit of jazz added and dramatic, filmic touches. Útidúr are gearing up to release their debut album ‘This Mess We’ve Made’ in Iceland this month, hopefully with an international release to follow soon, but until then you can check out ‘Let’s Make Room’ in the player and download ‘Fisherman’s Friend’ and ‘Grasping For Thoughts’ with a Right Click + Save As (courtesy of Bad Panda Records).

Waves Of The Echo (SF)
From Helsinki, Finland, comes this quartet (currently in the market for a bass player), who dish out very catchy indierock with a post-punk-ish flavor. Waves Of The Echo are planning on recording their debut EP this winter, and the three songs on MySpace – ‘Boys In Debaser’ in the player included – have me thinking it could be quite a treat. Enjoy…

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
