SpaceScan10 #45: Baba Black and Hypertext
Categories: Denmark • Electronica • Features • Norway • Rock

The forty-fifth SpaceScan in 2010 presents two acts sharing no other common ground than being from Scandinavia. First up is the new tech-house project by Danish producers and DJ’s Buda and T.O.M., Baba Black, and they are followed by Norwegian indierock outfit Hypertext, who are releasing their second full length album in Norway on Monday. Check them out, let us know what you think and then have a great weekend.
Baba Black (DK)
Two years ago DJ’s Buda and T.O.M. nailed it as Lulu Rouge with their melancholic dub debut album ‘Bless You’. The last year or so they’ve also been working under the moniker Baba Black, a harder tech-house counter to Lulu Rouge. A two-track EP titled ‘Sheep’ is out, and you can download ‘Dirty Sheep’ on palmsout.net, but here’s ‘When Did You Turn Black?’, which you can download on datasapiens.net along with their ‘Deep And Dirty Mix’ (it’s in Danish, but the download bit should be clear).

On Monday, November 15, indierock com post-punk and new wave six-piece Hypertext releases their sophomore effort ‘Astronaut Kraut!’ in their native Norway, following up on the 2007 debut ‘Corrente Elektro’. In the beginning of 2010 lauded songstress Susanne Sundfør permanently joined the band ranks, and here’s the great ‘Ivy League’ from ‘Astronaut Kraut!’ which – along with the song ‘Mary’ – is available for free download on their NRK Urørt profile (“Last Ned” means download).

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
