Booty Cologne: 2007 B.C.
Categories: Albums • Denmark • Urban

It’s dark, sometimes downright evil, but always intelligent and incredibly funky. The debut album from urban all star outfit, Booty Cologne, is in a few words just brilliant!
Swedish rapper, ADL, impress with range and variation in his flow, as does Danish trio TueTrack72 (turntable, prog., synth), Abdullah S (keys, prog., voc) and Stunn Gunn (drums, prog., synth) with their excellent future-funk beats that touch on everything to, from and in between hip hop, bailefunk, dancehall and electronica.
As the hip hop code dictates ‘2007 B.C.’ is of course (in this case) blessed with several guest appearances. Most noteworthy is Swedish rapper Mapei who really adds to the six tracks she appears on with her characteristic and sublime flow. Elsewhere Canadian rapper WIO-K, Million Dan, Top Cat and late Danish dancehall queen Natasja are also brought in to the Booty Cologne mix.
From the kick off with the dark and heavy ‘Shake Wut Ya Mamma Gave Ya’, ‘2007 B.C.’ is musically superior to most with highlights in raggamuffin single ‘Crank It Up’ and the funky kick in the groin on imperialism in ‘Fat Americans’. ‘Headcase’ and ‘Hold It Down’ are designed to give you instant balance disorder, while ‘Drunk Gods’ and ‘Wut Jungle’ just makes you want to shake your booty on the dance floor – or wherever you might be when listening.
With Booty Cologne in my ears I don’t mind waiting another 2007 years for a Messiah…
