Although electronica in (almost) all shapes and forms have become a natural musical element of today, there’s always been – and still is – a futuristic feel to it, and on their debut full length Stockholm duo Boeoes Kaelstigen aka Leo Nathorst-Böös and Tor Rauden Källstigen make absolutely no effort to change that. In fact, they go all in with a post-apocalyptic vision of the world in 2038 where the Unix Millennium Bug have wiped out our digital infrastructure as backdrop for ‘Tanum Teleport’, named after a Nordic satellite telecommunications station in western Sweden (shut down in 2002) which in this story serves as headquarter for the Nordic region’s effort to get back on track.

Despite this bleak offset there is a certain warmth in the duo’s minimal trance and techno, over eight tracks and an intro – including a re-recording of their first ever track ‘Fasit’, here ‘Fasit 10’ and although not awesome a quite poetic touch in a full circle sort of way – moving from melancholic dreamscapes to danceable club tracks with highlights in single ‘Desolate View’ featuring Stefan Storm from electropop outfit The Sound Of Arrows on vocal, driving anthem ‘Calea’, the dark, cold ‘Cobol’, which is a joint venture with the great synthrock quintet MF/MB/, and seductive dreamer ‘Kantillo’ (in the player). If this is the sound of our world after the apocalypse, then by all means bring it on…

Having released two 12” vinyls and made a name for themselves as remixers for among others Familjen and Jonathan Johansson prior to ‘Tanum Teleport’, Boeoes Kaelstigen have since 2007 been rising stars on the electronic scene, but this debut make it fair to consider striking “rising” from that sentence. Great stuff!
