The Winyls: Honey And Lime
Categories: Albums • Finland • Rock

We dare you – no, double-dare you – not to dance around like a happy little monkey when you hear the ridiculously catchy synth-and-guitar intro to The Winyls‘ ‘See Me Alive’ reminiscing 1979 smash-hit ‘My Sharona’ by The Knack.
The Finnish rock quintet didn’t invent the wheel nor are they musically groundbreaking for that matter, but they sure know how to create three minutes of pop-rock that will go straight to your head – and your feet.
‘Honey And Lime’ is The Winyls’ second album following ‘Rock Motor’ from 2005, which, incidentally, is pretty good too and available for the very reasonable price of absolutely nothing on thewinyls.com.
Between the two albums the Fins have toured relentlessly and have played gigs in Russia, Germany and USA as well as Finland, obviously, and have made a reputation as a killer live band.
So what do The Winyls sound like then? Think The Killers, The Sounds, Arctic Monkeys and a few other bands mixed up with a distinct sound of Finland, perhaps a slight drunkenness and last but not least a whole lot of fun.
