Royal Republic: We Are The Royal
Categories: Albums • Rock • Sweden

This quartet was founded towards the end of 2007, won the Swedish Emergenza Festival the year after, and debuted in September 2009 with the swaggering single ‘All Because Of You’, which we featured in a SpaceScan a couple of months later. Last February they released their debut, ‘We Are The Royal’, in Sweden, late this January it came out in Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, and come March 14 it’s time for the UK to get a load of Royal Republic.
Who are they?
Adam Grahn (Vocals), Hannes Irengård (Guitar), Jonas Almén (Bass) and Per Andreasson (Drums).
How’s the album?
Judging by the thirteen tracks on ‘We Are The Royal’ these guys are more concerned with drinking, dancing and possibly a bit of destroying than, say, rocket science. It’s loud, dumb, fun and pretty damn catchy, dishing out kick-ass guitar riffs and shout-along choruses by the truckload in the punk-short songs (just three hitting three minutes or more) with jocular lyrics and a sound and feel calling for mentions of acts like The Hives, The Offspring and Franz Ferdinand.
Check them out if you like:
To be happy, party and perhaps get a little bit horny. Which, coincidently, is Royal Republic’s stated rock’n’roll mission…
