Siamese Fighting Fish: We Are The Sound

Categories: AlbumsDenmarkRock

It’s only February so it might seem premature, but I’ll go out on a limb and predict that ’We Are The Sound’ will be featured – probably rather prominently – on ALL SCANDINAVIANs Best Of 2011 album-list. The band’s called Siamese Fighting Fish and the record includes tracks titled ’K.I.T.T. And The Heroic Villains’ and ’The Day Me And My Friend Quit Diet Coke’. Does that sound weird? Wait until you hear the music…

Who are they?
Six Danes who sound like they have been locked up in a rehearsal room for the last ten years without radio, TV or internet, refusing to be inspired by anyone but themselves.

How’s the album?
It is epically awesome! It is really hard to label but think metal – with obvious Balkan influences – featuring huge melodic choruses, guitar riffs that could make Rammstein soil themselves, and a total disregard for traditional song structures. And a guy playing the violin. ‘We Are The Sound’ is amazingly unpredictable and one of the most unique albums I have heard in years. In other words: It is really, really good.

Check them out, if you’d like…
… to know what it would sound like if Muse, System Of A Down and Incubus went on stage in a metal club in Sarajevo and tried to outweird each other. Featuring a guy playing the violin.
