The SpaceScan series continue, this week with a Finnish trio who’ve had the first single from their upcoming third effort declared the best Finnish song in 2008 and a secretive Swedish instrumental act whom movie directors looking for a soundtrack really should consider checking out – along with you of course.

This Finnish trio had the first single from their forthcoming third album, ‘Puutarhatrilogia’ (out in Finland February 11), proclaimed the best Finnish song of 2008 by music magazine Rumba. I won’t argue with that, but just state that ‘Saanko Jäädä Yöksi?’ (after interpreting Google translator probably meaning “Can I stay the night?”) is a really great electropop song. Along with the video for equally cool song ‘Paras Aika Vuodesta’ it is the only sound on Regina’s MySpace, but hopefully they’ll get their act together and give us more soon.

Film directors of the world look no further: Here’s the soundtrack to your movie. I can’t tell you more about this Swedish act (don’t even know if it’s one or more) as they seem to have taken a vow of silence, giving away absolutely no info other than there’s a debut album coming out in March. What I can tell you is that this/these person(s) create marvelous instrumental music with elements of neo-folk, electro and pop spearheaded by heartbreakingly beautiful classical piece ‘Bodensia’, perfect for that closing scene where our hero or heroin contemplate on life, love, death and where it all went wrong.
