SpaceScan11 #07: Brighton and Blackbird
Categories: Features • Finland • Norway • Pop • Rock

This Friday’s SpaceScan is all about B’s and free tracks (which I know you like), presenting two rather different acts in Norwegian indierock outfit Brighton, who have three songs available for download, and Finnish folk-pop trio Blackbird, who have just released their first single which they are giving away for absolutely nothing. Check them out, let us know what you think, and then have a great weekend.
Brighton (NO) (Photo)
Originally from Haugesund this quintet have set up headquarters in Bergen where they plot world domination with their grandiose and catchy The Killers/Kent flavored indierock. Brighton released their debut, ‘Conquistador EP’, this month from which two songs (‘The Orchid’ and ‘St. James Society’) are streaming on MySpace along with single ‘Alexander’ – all available for download on their NRK Urørt profile (“Last Ned” means download).

Blackbird (SF)
I don’t have much more info on Finnish trio Blackbird than it’s singer Jenna-Miia Kaivosoja, songwriter/producer Jussi Petäjä (Captain Cougar) and keyboardist Matias Tyni (Topi Saha, Snekka), that they will release a debut album in May/August 2011, and that they have their first single, ‘Did I Say That I Loved You?’, out and available for free on their webiste. I’ll just add that I really like said “Dolly Parton gone folk-pop” single and look forward to more…

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
