SpaceScan11 #13: Shine 2009 and Fastpoholmen
Categories: Electronica • Features • Finland • Pop • Sweden

This Friday’s SpaceScan presents two duos, one Finnish and one Swedish. First up are Shine 2009 aka Mikko Pykäri and Sami Suova, who have looked to the 1990s for inspiration, and they are followed by cousins Adam and Dawn Fastholm aka Fastpoholmen, who find their musical inspiration in Africa, the Caribbean and Sweden. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Last year Helsinki duo Shine 2009 aka Mikko Pykäri (also Regina) and Sami Suova (also Schmami) released their debut EP ‘Associates’, a delicious four song treat reminiscing acts like Saint Etienne and early Massive Attack that should please any old (or young, if you will) enough to have experienced the clubbing scene of the 1990s.

Fastpoholmen (SE)
A Swedish duo based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Fastpoholmen (cousins Adam and Dawn Fastholm) released their debut album ‘En Stund’ last year. Africa, the Caribbean and Sweden meet and join forces in their immensely pleasant, charming and catchy pop songs, here the sweet ‘Min Kaera’ (“my darling”, or something to that effect).

WHO DO YOU THINK EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR?
Although we spend a lot of time out there, we can’t claim to have heard every band on MySpace, so please feel free to recommend bands – Scandinavian, of course – you think everybody deserve to hear. We do reserve the right not to feature your band(s), but we guarantee to check them out. Drop links to: spacescan (a) allscandinavian.com
