On the Meadow with Kallocain, Gavelin and Since Our First Guitar

Another month has gone and guest blogger Pär Berglund from the great Swedish music blog Meadow Music returns with three of his recent favorites in the shape of Kallocain, Since Our First Guitar and Gavelin. Check them out and let us know what you think – comments are as always appreciated. And so the word is Mr. Berglund’s:
The last one has been a quite intense month and I’ve had a hard time choosing some acts for this post, as I’ve stumbled upon more than a few artists that deserve some attention. Well, here it goes anyway:
Kallocain, hailing from Norrköping, has released their debut album ‘Between Two States’, an album that sounds like Radiohead, americana, singer/songwriter and the seventies. They jump from beautiful acoustic songs to dirty indie, but still maintain the same somewhat mellow atmosphere. You can listen to and download the album on Ge.tt and here’s ‘Genesis’:

Since Our First Guitar (photo) is a band I discovered a year ago and they got my attention again now as they released the new, two-track single ‘Routine’. There’s just something in Wallentin Richardsson’s cool voice that really makes me listen. This combined with their great sense of melodies in these indiepop/-rock tracks has made this band a recent favorite. Here’s ‘Your Mind, Your Hell’:

And in conclusion something completely different: Gavelin is a band with veterans Jan Johansen and Mats Hedström in the frontline. The project was actually started in 1994, but was paused due to Jan’s success in the Eurovision contests and subsequent pop career. Last year they revived it, recorded new songs and released the album ‘Mean Machine’ recently. It’s about classic rock from the seventies, rock that could be heard from The Faces, Free, Whitesnake, Paul Rodgers and The Rolling Stones. It’s about getting back to the roots for the band members, and Jan’s voice feels right at home in this music. Here’s ‘Jealousy’:
