It’s been a busy couple of years for Peter, Bjorn and John since the release of their last album ‘Living Things’. Björn Yttling’s produced Lykke Li’s excellent sophomore effort ‘Wounded Rhymes’, Peter Morén’s released his second solo album ‘I Spåren Av Tåren’, his first with Swedish lyrics, and John Eriksson has released a new album, ‘Favorite Flavor’, with his disco-kraut band Holiday For Strings and three EPs with his solo project Hortlax Cobra. And in between they’ve also found time to record ‘Gimme Some’, their sixth album since 2002.

Who are they?
Well, Björn Yttling, Peter Morén and John Eriksson, this time around and for the first time working with a producer in the shape of Per Sunding (Bob Hund, The Cardigans, Sort Sol, and recently Highway Child and Forest & Crispian).

How’s the album?
After the mostly instrumental ‘Seaside Rock’ (2008) and experimental ‘Living Things’ (2009), both faced with a distinctly mixed reception, the trio have decided to return to their pop-rock roots to generally great effect. Although they did intend to make a punk rock album – and there are hints of it in ‘Breake Breaker’ and ‘Black Book’ – overall it adds up to a sort of pop-indiepop-poprock testament to the trio’s quite awesome songwriting skills. Drinking, politics and not least (inevitably for a pop album) love are the lyrical themes on ‘Gimme Some’, where “uh-uh ‘n cowbell” instant hit ‘Second Chance’ (in the player) and psych-rock album closer ‘I Know You Don’t Like Me’ are particularly pleasing.
